Dan M. Snow

Dan was a man of service, having proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960-1962, aboard the USS Newport News. Following his discharge, he established a four decade-long career as a machinist at Ajax-Renold Inc. in Westfield, NY where he formed many life-long friendships.

Outside of his work, Dan had many hobbies and leisure interests. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in fishing and hunting. Dan also had a passion for NASCAR, bowling and bluegrass music. Dan played the Dobro and guitar. This passion took him and his wife, Louanne, throughout the US and Canada to many bluegrass festivals.

Dan is survived by his 1oving wife of 62 years, Louanne; and his daughter Debra (Dana Forness). Dan also leaves behind sisters-in-law Barbara Abbey, and Candace (Gary) Cook; and his brothers-in-law, George (Carol) Abbey and Claude (Pauletta) Abbey as well as many nieces and nephews, his grandson Nickolas Patch and family and his former son-in-law Jeffrey Patch. In addition to his parents, Dan was most recently predeceased by his brother Fred Snow, his brother-in-law Dale Abbey, and Nephew Richard Abbey.

Dan will be deeply missed and remembered as a loving family man, a respected veteran, and an avid admirer of life’s simple pleasures. His friendly personality, and varied interests, will serve as a solace of happy memories for all those who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life with military honors to be held at the American Legion Post 327, 7579 Main Street, Westfield, NY on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. Food and fellowship to immediately follow.
