Donald Arthur Lopus, 67, of West Ellicott, NY passed away peacefully at UPMC Chautauqua on Saturday, August 5th with his wife at his side.

Donald was born on February 3, 1956, in Jamestown, NY the son of the late Marion Haskell Erickson and the late Willard Lopus.

Don was employed by the City of Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Water Division. He retired as a laborer/ welder after 21 years following a disabling work injury. Prior to his BPU employment, Don worked for Group W Cable, and he worked in cable pole line construction.

An outdoorsman and a spiritual man, Don considered the woods to be his church. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, and doing tree work for friends and family. Following retirement, Don developed an interest in lapidary and silversmithing as a hobby. He became an accomplished, self-taught, jewelry artist. Don was also a voracious reader, and he enjoyed art, traveling, and music. He was known for his quick wit, gentle soul, and abiding love for his family.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lindsey Isaac-Lopus. His son, Alexander Lopus of West Ellicott, his daughter, Torrey (Stephen) Beck of Sharon, MA, and his grandchildren, Cameron and Quinn Beck of Sharon MA. He is also survived by his sisters, Shelley Swanson and Barbara (Brian) Thorpe both of West Ellicott and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no public services observed. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
