Steve Lundsten, 69, of Ellington, NY, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 16, 2023 following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born as Steven Carl Lundsten on March 10, 1954, he was a son of the late Carl A. and V. Shirley Lindberg Lundsten. He grew up on Swede Hill in Jamestown where he made good, lifelong friends. He enjoyed softball, golfing and bowling and in later years, fishing and hunting. He was a proud member of the Mill Street Hunt Club.
He married the love of his life, Kim on Oct. 27, 1979 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Bradford, PA. A marriage lasting nearly 45 years, they together faced and embraced life at home and work each day, with family as their main focus.
Steve was the loving father of his three sons, Adam (Emily), Eric and Steven Jr., and his one daughter, Sarah. He was a doting grandfather of nine grandchildren, Caleb, Autumn, McKenzie, Michaela, Axel, Kade, Rowan, Maximilian and Makena; brother to James Lundsten and Patty Calimeri; and "Uncle Steve" to his many special nieces and nephews. He was like a son to his father-in-law, Ralph Rose from whom he carried on a family tradition which became his own legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Marsh & Nancy Lundsten; and his mother-in-law, Judy Rose.
As a Memorialist for over 40 years, Steve owned and operated their family business, Wright Monumental Works. He took great pride in the quality of his craftsmanship and his ability to create respect, beauty and happiness from tragedy and sadness. He was truly devoted to the families he served. His work was his pride and his passion. Teaching his own children his trade blended and brought the family to five generations in the family's business.
Steve was a man of faith, his word, hard work, honesty, and respect. His love was unconditional, and he was truly loved back by many. He will be always and forever missed.
No funeral service will be observed. A celebration of Steve's life will be held and announced at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Ellington Fire Department or to the Ellington Farman Library.
