P. Deborah King

P. Deborah King, 72, formerly of Ashville, died Sunday July 16, 2023, in the home of her daughter in Jamestown.

An area resident all her life, she was born Oct. 28, 1950, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late William and Beverly Johnson Tyler.

She was a 1970 graduate of Panama Central School.

For many years she was employed by Panama Central School as a swim instructor and lifeguard. She had a great love of crafting, sewing, and scrapbooking, but her greatest projects were always the people around her into whom she poured all her energy and love.

She was a former member of Ashville United Methodist Church and a Scouting leader for many years. She loved animals and caring for others.

Surviving is her daughter Sarah (Jason) Tonon with whom she made her home; a son William (Jamie) King of Ashville; grandchildren Jack and Ivy Tonon and Matt and Marcus King; a sister Ann Marie (Tyler) Dreesen of Bear Creek, PA; five nieces, four nephews, and a collective twelve grandnieces and grandnephews; and Madisson Ottoway, who she helped raise and who in turn helped heal her heart after the passing of her husband.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Douglas King, who she married June 1976 and who died December 18, 2003, and a brother William Tyler who died the summer of last year.

The funeral will be held at 11 am Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from 5-7 pm Thursday and for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.

Memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
