Harry Brown

A Jamestown native, he was born Nov. 14, 1947, the son of the late Clifford and Leota Brown, and was a 1965 graduate of Jamestown High School. He then served in the US Army from June 1967 to June of 1969, receiving Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals and a Sharpshooter badge. He served at the US Military Academy at West Point and at the Pentagon.

Bucky met his future wife, Shirley Williams, when they were 18 years old, knowing immediately he was going to marry her. They were wed two years later and spent the next 55 years together in love.

Along with his wife Shirley, surviving are three children: Heather Brown (Sam Triscari), Douglas Brown (Alda), and Mickey Brown (Tracy); four grandchildren: Bradley James Brown, Mia Bella Brown, Brayden Douglas Brown, and Carter Patrick Brown; step-granddaughter, Kianna Wilson and step-greatgrandchildren, Marcellus and Mila Wilson; and sister, Sandra Russell. Also surviving are sisters- and brothers-in-law, Diane and Carl Williams, and Barb and Bob Grove; nieces Stephanie Cardone (Tylor) and Holly Williams; and his grand dog, Sabre.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Douglas Brown; sister, Wanda Gray; and nephews, Dennis Gray and Jason Williams.

Bucky was employed in supermarket management including many years with Loblaw’s and later Bells. He retired from Schaefer Supply.

He was an avid golfer, participating in and winning many golf tournaments, and had made two holes-in-one at Jackson Valley Golf Course. Bucky also volunteered for many years for the Multiple Sclerosis Society (Team DJ) and for Toys for Tots. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and Celoron American Legion.

Bucky loved to travel to Hilton Head every year to relax on the beach. He was a wonderful dancer who enjoyed dancing every Saturday night with his wife and friends. A devoted NY Yankees fan, rarely would you see him without his Yankees hat. He also enjoyed the great memories of attending Sabres games with his sons and teaching them hockey. He was so proud of his grandchildren and would brag to anyone who would listen about their accomplishments.

Bucky requested his family and friends ‘remember all the good times he has shared with you and loves you all.’ Therefore, per his wishes, no funeral or visitation will be observed. A celebration of his life will be held later this summer. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
