Virginia B. Pischera, 92, of Kennedy passed away Friday (April 28, 2023) in her home surrounded by her family.
A lifelong area resident she was born February 9, 1931 in the Town of Ellery, the daughter of the late Archie J. and Blanche M. Smith Foster.
Virginia attended Bemus Point and Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed at the former W.T. Grant Store, National Worsted Mills, and Goldstar Market. She along with her late husband Samuel owned and operated Bisky’s C B Shop in Falconer in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Prior to retirement she was employed by Weber Knapp Company.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchild, and her beloved cat, “Mittens.” Virginia also enjoyed going to yard sales, estate sales, word puzzles and solitaire.
Surviving are five children: Larry Pischera of Kennedy, Jerry (Mary) Pischera of Falconer, Sandra (Gordon) Waite of Randolph, Chris (Sue) Pischera of Kennedy, Vicky (Dennis) Green of Greer, SC; nine grandchildren: Nicole Pischera, Ashley McBride, Jarrett Pischera, Samuel Pischera, Ashlynne Pischera, Danon Pischera, Amanda Pischera, Shannon Pischera, Kristie LaRusch; 2 step-granddaughters: Rebecca Potter and Stacy Salapek; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel S. Pischera whom she married December 3, 1949 in St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, who died January 21, 1997; a brother Charles Foster and three sisters: Norma Bailey, Donna Gunther, and Julia Damon.
The funeral will at 1 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Darrell Duffy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
