Myrtle Ann Auge Lindberg

Myrtle Ann Auge Lindberg, 79, of Westfield, and formerly of Mayville, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.

She was born April 11, 1943, at home, on Morris Road, Stedman, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Gladys Mae Houseman Auge.

Myrtle attended Chautauqua Central School. She worked on the food production line at Welch’s in Westfield, NY for ten years. Myrtle was a Girl Scout Brownie troop leader when her daughters were young. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, counted cross stitch, golfing, hunting with her husband and reading her Bible. Her faith was very strong and important to her.

Myrtle was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was an active member of the Prayer Chain and also the United Methodist Women. She frequently shared her baked goods at church events and was best known for her pies and sugar cookies. Myrtle and her husband Mel also served as custodians at the church in the early years of their membership.

Myrtle is survived by her three children: Roxane (Scott) Spaulding of Tijeras, NM, Debra (Mark) Puckhaber of Westfield, NY and Melvin H. (Erin) Lindberg Jr. of Santa Cruz, CA.; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Marty) Burdett, Jessica (Tim) Friedrich; Nicole (Alexander) Salmins; Dustin (Christina) Spaulding; Derek (Alicja) Spaulding and Amelie Lindberg; five great-grandchildren: Vincenzo, Martin, Lily, Adam and Sophia; three siblings: Naomi (Corky) Weary, Vera Sandwall, Norval Auge and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin H. Lindberg Sr., whom she married May 10, 1959, in Mayville NY, and six brothers: Arnold, Eldon, Edmond, Jules, Lauren and Vernon Auge.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, NY (139 S. Erie St,). The family will receive friends from 10am to 12pm prior to a service by Rev. Thomas LeBeau at 12:15pm. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery after the funeral service. A luncheon will be held from 2pm to 4pm in the Memorial Hall at the Mayville United Methodist Church (81 S. Erie St.).

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association of WNY, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Village of Westfield Fire Department.
