Joyce M Seekins
Joyce M Seekins, 78, of Jamestown passed away April 4, 2023, at UPMC Hamot.
She was born November 10, 1944 in Jamestown to the late Cleo Russ and Helen Bush Russ.
She LOVED Wednesday night Blue Grass at the Celeron Legion and especially enjoyed when her great-great nephew Colton would come and sing along with the band. Nothing but her hair appointment could ever be scheduled on a Wednesday and she was sure to always remind us. She cherished anything that involved her grandchildren and family, enjoyed knitting, and in earlier years line dancing and bowling.
She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up and welcomed many foster children during that time. She had been employed by Anderson Cleaners, CB Dry Cleaners and Farm Fresh Foods.
She was a 1962 graduate of Southwestern Central School.
Joyce is survived by her first husband, Clark Cowen, their children Cindy (Mike) Wilson and Jeff Cowen; grandchildren Kylie, Patrick and Camryn Wilson and Alexis and Diesel Cowen; her step-children Scott (Amy) Seekins, Lauri Bachman, Kim (Jeff) Gregorec and Keri (Brian) Cassidy; her sister Janet (Dave) Dawley and brother Dave Russ; and many special nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Seekins, whom she married July 21, 1995 and died December 19, 2018, her sister Sally Stevens and half-brothers Richard, Earl and William Campbell.
Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.
It is only fitting that a celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 3, the night of “Blue Grass” at the Celoron Legion Post 777 located at 26 Jackson Ave., Jamestown, N.Y. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. with a brief service of remembrance at 5:30.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to: Celoron Legion Post 777, 26 Jackson Ave Jamestown NY 14701; Making Strides Against Breast Cancer; or the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, N.Y.
