Ronald D. “Smokey” Scolton, 75, of Lakewood passed away unexpectedly Saturday (February 4, 2023) in Absolut of Westfield Nursing Home.

He was born January 24, 1948 in Jamestown, the son of the late Dan and Hazel Fiet Scolton.

Smokey attended Cassadaga Valley High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970.

He was an active member of the Fish Club in Celoron, Lakewood American Legion, Lakewood Moose Club and Jamestown Eagles Club.

He was employed by Ulrich Fabricating. Smokey enjoyed welding with his mig tig welder, and doing

autobody work and painting classic cars. He also enjoyed driving his three wheel trike motorcycle and won several “Best In Show” awards at area car shows. Smokey enjoyed riding with his brother, Jack Scolton.

Surviving are two sons: Ronald W. (Amy) Scolton of Cuba, NY, Terry B. Scolton of Frewsburg, NY; three grandchildren: Chelsea LaRoche, Nicolaus Scolton, Charity Asquith; two great grandchildren: Noah Asquith and Terryn LaRoche; his brother Jack (Martha) Scolton of Kennedy, NY and a sister: Patricia Jones of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father Dan Scolton on March 29, 2000 and his mother Hazel Scolton on December 2, 2001.

Smokey will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He would have done anything for anyone! As per his wishes no funeral service or visitation will be observed.
