Marie Lamarca Lawson, 76, formerly of 20 Wescott Street in Jamestown and 35 Green Ave West Ellicott passed away peacefully on Friday January 27, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home in Floral Lakes community in Delray Beach Florida.
Marie graduated Jamestown High School in 1964, then attended beauty school. She was a hairdresser for nearly 50 years starting at MaCherie, then her own home shop, followed by Today’s Hair & Nails after moving to Boca Raton Florida in 1985 which later became Peggy’s Hair Salon where she retired from in 2012. Marie had many beauty shop friends and lifelong customers she did their hair her for, and her hair could never be out place.
Marie married her lifelong partner James W. “Jim” Lawson in 1968. In Jamestown Jim and Marie were actively involved in Kiwanis club, Marie was president of Kiwanis women’s, active in American legion, Celoron Fire Department, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and her Bunko group.
Marie loved to go for rides around, cruises, “I Love Lucy” shows and memorabilia, checking out new places, playing canasta, shows at the Floral lakes clubhouse, making Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter holiday dinners with everyone over.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother Sue “Sara” Damond Lamarca, her father Anthony P Lamarca both of Jamestown and brother and sister-in law Tony and Joanne Lamarca of Boca Raton FL.
Marie is survived by her husband James Lawson, her two sons Jim “Jimmy” (Janet) and Chuck (Cilene) of Delray Beach FL, her sister and brother in-law Elvera and Jim Paterniti of Jamestown, her many cousins, nephews, and beloved friends.
Arrangements by The Gardens of Boca Raton Florida with internment. A celebration and remembrance of Marie’s vibrant and loving life will be announced shortly.
