JAMESTOWN- Marie Brusone Nelson, 83 of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at her home, with her husband at her side following a lengthy battle with dementia.

She was born May 15, 1939, in Angola, NY the daughter of the late Michael and Angeline Semintore Brusone

Marie was a 1957 graduate of Westfield High School. She had retired from the Chautauqua County Health Department. She was also a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in Lakewood, NY.

Marie was an avid golfer and also enjoyed cross-country skiing, flower gardening, and going to garage and yard sales to add to her various collections, especially cows. She also loved driving nice cars, with her favorite being an Audi. Marie loved to decorate for all the holidays and was a fabulous cook. She was a very outgoing person and had a smile for everyone.

She is survived by her loving husband; Alvin F. Nelson, whom she married on October 12, 1984, in Point Chautauqua, NY, two grandsons; Donald (Emily) Paddock, and Kyle (Jess) Harper, four great-grandsons; Brayden and Braxton Paddock and Balcom and Barrett Harper, a stepdaughter; Diane (John) Gatto, a step-son: Michael (Lisa) Nelson, eight step-grandchildren: Christopher and Johnna Gatto, Hannah, and Samantha Nelson, Lee, Dalton (Hadley) and Mikayla Bolles, and Lexi (Tom) Schosek, and one great step-granddaughter: Avery Schosek.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Harper, a brother; Michael Paul Brusone, a stepdaughter; Karen Bolles, a stepson; Doug Bolles, and her stepmother Mamie Gligora Brusone.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marie’s caregivers; Amy Ray, Charsy Carte, Tabitha Bardo, and Natasha Cruz.

There will be no services observed at this time. A spring memorial service is planned for 11AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville with burial in the Mayville Cemetery.
