Lynette Besse

Nettie Mansfield was born in Cherry Creek, NY, to the late Frank and Mary Jane (Nobles) Mansfield. She cherished growing up in a small town with a large family, spending time with friends, and working in the family business, Mansfield’s Store. She graduated from Pine Valley Central School in 1976 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education at SUNY Oswego. She taught English in Virginia and was a substitute teacher at Pine Valley. Over the years, she worked at Cockaigne, Moonbrook Country Club, was Cherry Creek Town Clerk, and was co-owner of Smith’s Bar in Conewango Valley.

In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her siblings Sue Rayl (Bob) and Zack Mansfield, as well as her stepmother Janet Mansfield.

She is survived by her son Frank (Ginger) Besse; siblings Steve (Melodee) Mansfield, Lisa Mansfield, Ann (Phil Harington) Thompson, Jeff Condon, Jennifer (Keith) Wadsworth, and Jack (Amber) Condon; and grandchildren Salvatore and Mabel Besse.

Nettie loved crafts and reading. She was warm and friendly to all she met. She will be remembered, above all else, for her kindness. As her father would say, “she’s the good one”.

A burial at Cherry Creek Cemetery and memorial will occur at a later date.
