Richard Scott Parasiliti
Richard Scott Parasiliti, 72, of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, after seizing every opportunity to connect with people and enjoy life.
You might know Richard as your teacher, Coach P or your friend’s dad. Maybe you met him through Scouts, or he sold you a car. There’s the flea market too. Richard positively inspired and impacted many people on his journey.
He was born August 30, 1950, in Jamestown, NY, a son of Robert P. Parasiliti and Mary Riddell (Lingenfelter).
Richard grew up in Jamestown, NY with his brother Ron and baby sister Amy. His dad often brought home pennies to search for special coins. This started Richard’s lifelong love of collecting. He excelled in academics, played football and was a devoted member of the Elite Club.
Richard graduated Jamestown High School in 1968, and went off to Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he studied to become a teacher. He joined the Meddiebempsters A Cappella group, performing at Notre Dame Cathedral in France. He went on to achieve a master’s degree from SUNY Fredonia. He taught at The Gow School in South Wales, NY and Chapel Hill prep school in Waltham, MA, enriching countless students and forging lifelong friendships. Upon his return to Jamestown in the mid-90s, Richard held positions with Literacy Volunteers, and was an automobile salesman for Stateside Toyota, Shults Kia, and McFadden Toyota.
The love of his life was his children, Robert Parasiliti, Anthony Parasiliti and Sarah Parasiliti. They shared countless fond memories of Allegany camping, playing cards, movie nights, chicken wings, Lena’s pizza, Motown, and The Beach Boys.
To honor Richard, his family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Lind Funeral Home. A memorial service will commence at 5:15 pm.
If you can’t join us, hug your family, grab some wings, and watch the God-father. He’ll be right there with you.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be offered in Richard’s name to Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County at 10 Park Place, Fredonia, NY 14063 or www.lvccread.org.
