Michael Patrick Woodfield

A son of the late Spencer L. Woodfield and Arlene T. (Hoch) Woodfield, Michael was born in Jamestown, N.Y, on Jan. 23, 1951.

Michael was a graduate of Maple Grove Jr-Sr High School, Bemus Point, N.Y. and Jamestown Community College (JCC) in Jamestown, N.Y., before going on to serve his country with the U.S. Marine Corp and Reserves.

He was affectionately known as “Bodges” or “Woody” to his family and friends. Michael was an amazing businessman and entrepreneur, working in many different fields such as: State Chemical Company; Ed Shults, Westfield Dodge City (Bodges Dodges) and McFadden Ford, all dealerships located in Jamestown. After relocating to Florida in 1985, Michael went on to work for the Chrysler Dodge Dealer in Fort Pierce and Bill Shultz Chevrolet, before owning and operating his own food truck, a hotdog venue known as “Angelo’s”, as well as his glass cutting business, Amazing Products. As of late, Michael found his passion in real estate. He had been a realtor for Maronda Homes, and most recently worked for Atlantic Shores Realty.

Michael was also an avid bowler and member of the Woodfield Bros Bowling Team (he and his nine brothers). They took first place six times in the National Brothers Bowling Association Tournament, which was held annually in Erie, Pa. Michael excelled and held all individual titles in the 1987 tournament. His awards that year were for high game, high series, and high six-game combined series. His prowess led to other numerous awards throughout the 35 plus years they participated in that tournament.

Bowling was not his only hobby as Michael loved the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, softball. One of his favorite sports was pickleball. He joined the pickleball community in Vero Beach, and became a very competitive player. He and his brother, Don traveled around Florida, with their pickleball friends and competed in other tournaments. He won over five gold medals (several with his brother, Don) along with numerous other medals but Michael gained so much more than medals, he gained his big pickleball family that he loved so very much.

To say he loved and lived his life to the fullest would be an understatement. He enjoyed the fruits of his labor and shared with everyone he knew and loved. Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. His passion and zest for life, along with the love he so freely gave to his family and friends will be his lasting legacy for all who have crossed paths with him.

Michael leaves behind a very large and loving family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 18 years, Gloria; his son, Christopher Woodfield and wife, Stephanie of Florida; daughters: Laura (Woodfield) Chase and husband, Colin of Rochester, N.Y., and Christina Sarao and partner, Jason Allbaugh of Florida; seven grandchildren: Sidney Nance and Blake Nance of New York, Destinay Andrews, Jazmine Clarke, Patience Harden, Treasure Nappi, Kingsten Allbaugh and an unborn great-grandchild, Princeton, all of Vero Beach, Fla.; eight brothers: Tom Woodfield of New Port Richey, Fla, Jim Woodfield and wife, Larraine of Las Vegas, Nev., Richard Woodfield and his wife, Shirley, David Woodfield and his wife, Kim and Terry Woodfield and his wife, Cindy, all three of Jamestown, N.Y., Donald Woodfield and his wife, Ann of Pinehurst, N.C., John Woodfield and his wife, Janet of Bemus Point, N.Y., and Dan Woodfield and his wife, Ann of Trinity, Fla.; two sisters: Mary Woodfield of Bradenton, Fla., and JoAnn (Woodfield) Brown and husband. Jack of Panama, N.Y.; as well as over 100 nieces and nephews who affectionately call him “Uncle Bodges.”

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by three siblings; brother, Spencer G. Woodfield; and two sisters: Genevieve M. (Woodfield) Mauro and Janet A. (Woodfield) Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 8, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 916 17th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960 and a celebration of life will be held on Nov. 5, 2022, from 2-6 at the Moose Lodge of Vero Beach, 226 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32968.

A celebration of life will be held in New York on Oct. 22, 2022, from 1-4 p.m., at the VFW Post 8647, 10 Memorial Drive, in Mayville, N.Y. Come and celebrate and share memories of Mike with his family and friends from New York.
