Brian M. Colvin

Brian M. Colvin, 73, of South Dayton, NY left the woods of this life and entered the fields of eternity on Tuesday Oct. 25, 2022.

He was born April 2, 1949 in Gowanda, NY to the late Clair and Eva (Dann) Colvin. Brian grew up in Cherry Creek on the family dairy farm.

Brian graduated from Pine Valley Central Schools in 1967. After high school he went onto SUNY Fredonia where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education.

Brian and Anna were married on October 10, 1970 at the Cherry Creek Methodist Church.

Brian was employed at Pine Valley Central Schools where he taught Fifth and Sixth grade for 34 years until his retirement in 2010. During his tenure he coached high school foot-ball for 18 years and baseball for 14 years.

Brian was deeply connected to and had a spiritual love for nature and all living things. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, walking in the woods and observing wildlife as well as gardening. His kindness, gentleness and warm spirit enveloped his family and friends as well as the students he taught and athletes he coached. He also had a passion for his family, helping others, lending his opinion and getting hugs from the grand kids. He enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino and visits to the local coffee shop to meet with his friends and take a headcount.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Anna L. (Howard); his cherished sons Jayson Howard (Jaci), Zachary Clair (Robin), and his daughter in law Kathryn. Also survived by his grandchildren Brendan, Hunter, Jordyn, Brayden, Cory (Sara), Jeremy, Bayley (Mackenzie), Hannah, Colby and Aria; his great grandchildren Landon, Emma and Aiden; his special niece Joy Colvin Kelly (Kevin); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brian is now at peace and will join his son Benjamin McClenn, his parents Eva and Clair Colvin; his brothers Fay, Roy, Roger, Dann, Zane and a sister Jean.

Relatives and friends may attend a celebration of Brian’s life Friday Oct. 28, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at DiStasio Funeral Home 478 Route 83 at Balcom Corners South Dayton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Dayton Fire Department or to the family for the future Brian M. Colvin Memorial Scholarship at PVCS.
