Dorothy Mae Williams Galati

Dorothy Mae Williams Galati, 95 of 447 Broadhead Ave., passed away Aug. 12, 2022 at UPMC Chautauqua.

She was born March 27, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late John A. Williams and Golda Rudd Williams. Dorothy was the widow of Joseph Galati Sr., whom she married April 3, 1948, and who passed away March 3, 2001. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945.

Dorothy was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Lakewood, N.Y. She was a member of the prayer Shawl Group, The Alter Rosary Society and the Marco Polo Club. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She loved playing cards and playing on the computer.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her three brothers: Raymond, Walter and Richard Williams; her two sisters: JoAnn Ostrander and Jessie Westfelt; her stepson, Vincent Galati; her son-in-law, Edward Amore; and her great-great-granddaughters: Josephine Mineo and Illiana Hanley

Dorothy is survived by three daughters: Janice (Richard) Jensen of Carlisle, Pa., JoAnn (Edward) Amore of Erie, Pa., and Carmella Hanley of Rotterdam Junction, N.Y.; a son, Joseph (Darlene) Galati Jr. of Jamestown, N.Y.; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Galati of Tucson, Ariz. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 from 10am-noon at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial to be held Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, 1p.m. at St. James RCC. Burial to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
