Fredrick K. Forsythe

Fredrick K. Forsythe, 70, of Coudersport, PA, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, July 7, 2022 following a boating accident in Westfield, NY. He was born on February 25, 1952 in Saint Marys, PA, son of Frederick “Boots” and Loretta (Hixson) Forsythe.

On November 23, 1985, he married his wife, Darlene (Smith) Forsythe. Fredrick (also known as Captain Fred) was the owner and operator of Cast Away Charters. He chartered fishing expeditions on Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake. For several years he and his wife organized and hosted Fishing with Heroes, an annual fishing event at Barcelona Harbor, Westfield, NY to benefit U.S. combat injured Purple Heart veterans. He was a longstanding member and served as an elder at the Gospel Tabernacle in Coudersport and a retired employee of Dresser Rand in Wellsville, NY.

His greatest interest was his faith and his family. He had a giving heart. Fishing and hunting were his hobbies, but not his main focus.

Fred is survived by his wife: two sons, Joseph Forsythe (Lisa) of Riverview, FL, and Jacob Forsythe (Bobbie Jo) of Penn Yan, NY; five grandchildren: Faith Baker, Sofia Forsythe, Colin Forsythe, Angelina Forsythe, and Carson Dunn; a sister, Midge (Morales) Houghtaling of Coudersaport; an aunt, Evelyn Kephart of Penfield, PA; four nephews: James Whitt, Raymond Morales, Kenneth Morales and Mark Morales, numerous cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Rose Mae Whitt and Gloria Jean Forsythe.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gospel Tabernacle in Coudersport, 420 US Route 6 Weston Friday, July 29th. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2PM with the service immediately following, officiated by Pastor John Minor.

The service will be available through livestream on Facebook at Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Fred Forsythe to the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle. Final arrangements will be at the convenience of the family.
