Omer S. Jones

He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Yatesboro, Pa., a son of the late Preston and Florence Schriver Jones.

He was a Korean War veteran of the US Marine Corps from 1948-52.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Watson Industries as a stock clerk.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church and Disabled American Veterans.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed nature, hiking, and loved animals. He was an avid reader, woodworker and solitaire player.

Surviving are four children: Ted W. (Sharon) Jones of North East, Pa., Sheila M. (John) Fabian of Frewsburg, N.Y., Shellie L. Jones of Busti, and Tim P. Jones of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren, Peter Jones, Beau Jones, Michael Jones, Matthew Jones, Sarah Ziolkowski, Rusty Stewart, John Fabian, Jill Mullen, Dustin Fabian, Heidi Fabian, Preston Jones and Dawson Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susan (Roy) Patton of North East.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline “Polly” Casey Jones, whom he married Nov. 6, 1959, and who died March 6, 2017; a great-grandson, Isiah Jones; and siblings: Josephine Clay, Lois Cravner and Preston and Vincent Jones.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
