Virginia ‘Ginny’ Howles

Virginia Doris Howles passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in Schenectady, N.Y., at the age of 100. Born in 1921 to Irving and Delnora TeWinkle in Clymer, N.Y. ‘Gin’ lived and worked there until her marriage to her beloved husband, Charles ‘Chuck’ Howles in 1947.

They relocated to Olean, N.Y., then to Jamestown, N.Y., in 1954, and finally to Camillus, N.Y., in 1964, where she was a valued employee in the offices of EW Edwards & Sons.

She attended Abbe Reformed Church in Clymer, Epworth Methodist Church in Jamestown, and Immanuel United Methodist Church in Camillus, which were important spiritual and social communities for her family.

Ginny was a devoted wife and mother who leaves a legacy of family love, stability, connection, support and respect. Her love for her husband and family was unconditional, her support always ready.

She loved gardening and had a deep knowledge of flowers, enjoyed playing the piano and was a skilled seamstress. She delighted in her grandchildren, always ready to join in a game of cards, take a ride for ice cream or host a family gathering.

Virginia was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Charles Howles, in 1995; and by her three sisters: Florence Legters, Blanche Legters and Viola Wallace.

She is survived by her four children: Jillayne Rech, Jeffrey Howles and his wife, Kee, Karen Howles Boehm and her husband, David and Craig Howles and his wife, Dianne; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will hold her memory dear to their hearts.

Burial will be held in Clymer, N.Y., at a later date.
