Sebastian P. “Bob” Tilaro

Sebastian P. “Bob” Tilaro, 86, of Lakewood, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, in his home.

He was born July 6, 1935, in Jamestown, the son of the late Gaetano and Giovanna Piazza Tilaro.

He was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a medic from 1958-60.

Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated his family’s business, Tilaro’s Bakery.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun and the Moose Lodge and a life member of the Llama Club.

Bob was a quiet man who enjoyed telling a story, playing cards, going to the casino, and tending his big garden every year. He was a woodworker and built his home. More than anything he loved sitting on his patio watching his grandchildren play.

Surviving is his wife Anna Burstrom Tilaro, whom he married Aug. 17, 1963; four children: Cynthia (Daniel) Smith of Lakewood, Thomas (Mary) Tilaro of Longwood, Fla., Joann Sholl of Lakewood, and Robert (Jenny) Tilaro of Lakewood; 10 grandchildren: Kristina (Michael Morton) Smith, Joseph (Heidi) Smith, Charlotte Tilaro, Nicholas Tilaro, Megan Sholl, Adam Sholl, Hannah (Hanna Johnson) Sholl, Jacob Sholl, Sebastian Tilaro and Gabriel Tilaro; and a sister, Constance Basile of Jamestown.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Sholl; and brothers-in-law: Carl Basile and Paul Burstrom.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at10:30 am Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation will not be observed.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
