Catherine Maus

Catherine Maus, 66, of Sherman, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 15, 2022.

She was born April 11, 1955, to the late Lafern and Helen Hawkins.

She was a graduate of Ripley Central School. Catherine “Cathy” was a woman of faith, filled with love, grace, and a kind heart. Her smile always welcomed you. Cathy retired three years ago. She was able to work alongside her son, Travis as his office manager at the Sherman Service Center. Prior to that she was a dispatcher for the Williston Police Department, while she resided in Florida with her husband, Daniel. Cathy worked alongside her husband throughout the years running multiple businesses including the Sportsman’s Tavern.

Cathy’s passion was to cheer her children and grandchildren on, in whatever they were involved with. Cathy could always be found cheering loud for her family and enjoyed watching them race or compete, and proudly wore her grandchildren’s team colors while cheering them on.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Lafern Hawkins; mother, Helen Hawkins; and mother-in-law, Jane Maus.

Survived by her husband, Daniel Maus of Sherman; her children: John (Michelle) Swabik, Sherman, Travis (Amy) Swabik, North East, Shiloh Swabik, North East, Casey Swabik, Marco Island, Leeann Maus, Orlando, and Kenny (Alana) Maus of Tampa; grandchildren: Dylan, Daisy, Kennedy, Carter, Andrew, John, Jacob, Trevor, Trader and Collin; brothers: Bruce (Janie) Hawkins of Sherman, Tom (Wendy) Hawkins of Ripley and Mike (Tina) Hawkins of North Carolina.

The family will have a celebration of life on Saturday, March 19, from 14 p.m., in Sherman at the Stanley Hose Company.
