Ronnie D. Carlson

Ronnie D. Carlson, 57, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed peacefully, surrounded by his three children and the amazing staff at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., on Dec. 22, 2021, after a valiant fight against Covid pneumonia.

Born on Jan. 16, 1964, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Maynard Carlson and Verna Mathews.

Mr. Carlson attended Falconer Central High School, graduating in 1982.

A few years later, Ron travelled to Florida where he met his ‘soulmate’ Lilly. Returning to New York, they were married in Ron’s hometown of Ellington, N.Y., on July 14, witnessed by the couple’s loving children.

Ron began his years with The Resource Center in 1990 as a driver, working his way up to facilities maintenance manager. He held that position until illness took him away. He loved being involved in the many events at TRC. He was a proud participant and TRC representative at events including the annual Gus Macker tournaments as well as the openings of new facilities. He loved his job and enjoyed being with his coworkers and clients on a daily basis.

“We all are special and have some special needs . . . a little love goes along ways.”

Ron was a family man, enjoying phone calls and time with his children and, grandchildren. He was always happy to help anyone in need. He enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking, camping, gardening and the hunt of Geocaching. He loved his dogs. He and wife, Lilly, rescued many dogs over their years together.

He was a member of the Levant Wesleyan Church in Falconer.

He is survived by his children: Jimmy (Tammy) Berry, Angelina (Steve) Marlett, Ernest “Boo” Nelson and Tracy (Jorge) DaSilva; grandchildren: Toshia Lockhart, Codie Knepshield, Matthew Berry, Christian Marlett; six great-grandchildren; three brothers: Randy (Jan) Carlson, Rick (Patti) Carlson and Chad (Cindy) Carlson; two sisters: Cindi (Daniel) Soule and Cheryl Heath; step-mother Jackie Carlson; and step-father, Jay Mathews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Lillian M. “Lilly” Carlson, on Dec. 5, 2021, mother and father, Verna J. Mathews and Maynard C. Carlson; daughter, Christina Johnson; maternal grandparents, Ivan and Irene Vaughn; paternal grandparents, Carl J. and Neva R. Carlson; and an infant sister, Vicki Jaye Mathews.

Ron will be sorely missed for his wit and humor . . . Wet Willy anyone?

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg

No services will be held at this time.
