John R. “Jack” Burns Jr.
John R. “Jack” Burns, Jr., 69, of Falconer, passed away Thursday (Dec, 9, 2021) in UPMC Chautauqua.
A lifelong area resident, he was born March 25, 1952, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late John R. and Marney Twichell Burns Sr.
Jack was a graduate of Chautauqua High School, St. Bonaventure University with a degree in business, and Edinboro University with a masters degree in math education. He was a loving stay-at-home dad and a landlord.
He was an avid basketball player and coach, and coached several youth leagues. Jack enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Florida, and became a loyal University of Florida Gators fan. Jack also enjoyed watching his granddog, Amby.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cynthia D. Danielson Burns, whom he married Aug. 15, 1987, in Bemus Point United Methodist Church; his son John R. Burns III of Charlotte, N.C.; his daughter, Natalie Burns of Gainesville, Fla.; and his sister, Sue Richardson of Mayville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be private in Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Todd Wentworth, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church will officiate.
