Ingrid Victoria Josephson

Ingrid Victoria Josephson

Ingrid Victoria Josephson (nee Bergquist), 87, of Grace Street, Falconer, N.Y., passed away Sunday (Dec. 26, 2021) following a fall on Nov. 28 in her home.

Ingrid (or “Inga as her husband called her) was born Aug. 7, 1934, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Henning (Axel) and Astrid Bergquist.

She lived all her life in Chautauqua County, in Point Stockholm, and in Falconer. She was a graduate of Bemus Point High School.

She married Richard Carlton Josephson on Feb. 18, 1955, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and lived on Grace Street in Falconer for 65 years. There she raised her three sons and made memories and lifetime friends. Ingrid loved her family and the home that was built by her husband Richard, and she opened her home to many friends and neighbors. Ingrid and Richard visited family regularly traveling to the Adirondacks, Utica, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, as well as to Sweden to visit extended family and enjoy her Swedish roots.

A member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ingrid enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, knitting, homemaking, and visiting with friends. She loved to share stories about her family. She was known for making wonderful Swedish rice pudding as well as her very thin, very tasty Swedish “Pepparkakor” cookies every Christmas. Family members were always eager to get their annual tin of cookies. Ingrid poured love into everything she made and every person she knew, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. To Ingrid home was the center of life. Many thanks to all who helped her live there independently until age 87. She loved and treasured every minute at her cozy Grace Street house.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Sandra) Josephson of Westfield, N.Y., son David (Leslie) Josephson of Lebanon, Ohio, and son, Mark (Tracey) Josephson of Youngsville Pa.; ten grandchildren: Paul, Adam (Monica), Brian, Jay (Jenna), Colin (Elena), Haley, Christian (Alyssa), Taylor (Nathan Trisket), Fritz and Morgan as well as four treasured great-grandsons: James, Colby, Samuel, Levi and a fifth great-grandson expected January 2022. She will be greatly missed by her special niece, Laurie Hilt of Marcy, N.Y., whom she treated as a daughter and a dear nephew, Bruce (Barbara) Hilt.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Carlton Josephson; siblings: Carl, Sandy and John; mother and father-in-law, Helen Hesch Josephson Porter and Alvin Josephson; and her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Robert Hilt.

Ingrid, like her husband, taught us that the simplest truth in life is love.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. No visitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hospice House Project of Chautauqua Hospice, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.

Cards may be sent to the Grace Street residence or visit the website at www. falconerfuneralhome.net to send a message of condolence.
