Genevieve C. (Ferry) Edington

Genevieve C. (Ferry) Edington, 86, of 4887 S. Hill Rd., Ellington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 22,2021 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, P.a.

She was born March 22, 1935, in Kane, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Henry Ferry and the late Zella Mae Reid.

She attended Warren High School. Prior to retirement. she was employed by Proto Tool in Jamestown. She loved being around family and friends. Her hobbies included baking, cooking, gardening, canning and fishing with her husband. She also loved her German Shepherd, Sammy. She loved the casino and going to the Legion to play tickets and enjoyed socializing with all of her friends.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, George W. Edington Sr. (of Falconer) whom she married on March 21, 1954 in Niagara Falls. Also preceded by her parents; two sisters: Lee Spoon and Judy Hayes: and three brothers: Henry and Kenneth Ferry and George Williams; as well as nine brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law and one grandson, Sean M. Sheldon.

Genevieve is survived by three sisters: Patricia (Joseph) Dudek, Deborah Williams and Carol Bunce; and two brothers: Eugene (Pauline) Williams and James (Sharon) Williams. Genevieve had two daughters: Cindy (John) Farris of Ohio and Jeanne (Sergio) Ruiz of California; and two sons: George W. Edington Jr (Carrie) of Ellington, N.Y., and Fred R. Edington (Karen) of Florida. She had 14 grandchildren: Josh, Heather, Kelly, Danny, Chris, Leticia, George lll, Melissa, Sarah, Amy, Jamie, Tamie, Stephanie and Scott. She also had 29 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Jacob, Sophia, Ryleigh, Bryson, Luke, John Henry, Angel, Aylissa, Brooklyn, Peyton, Carson, Cooper, Kai, Mason, Jaxson, Colton, Trinitee, Hailey, Shawn, Avery, Mazie, Eilaina, Tyler, Emily, Donovan, Alexis, Nathan and Sydney. Also survived by three sisters-in-law: Pauline Schoning of Erie, Pa., Linda Edington of Greenhurst, N.Y, and Dorothy Edington of Chandler, Ariz.

Family and friends will be received by the family from 1-3 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at the Falconer Funeral Home in Falconer. The funeral will be at 3 p.m., and the Rev. Todd Wentworth will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the family and or Saint Susan’s Soup Kitchen in Jamestown, N.Y., because of her passion to help others less fortunate.

Everyone is invited to attend a family gathering at 4 p.m., on Jan. 3, 2022, at the Falconer American Legion, 132 West Main St., Falconer, NY 14733.
