Bernice Bayle Park Lewis, 90, of Columbus, Pa., entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Busti, N.Y.
Bernice was born Jan. 5, 1931, at her family home in Cutting, Town of French Creek N.Y., to Frank R. and Frances Nye Bayle.
She was a graduate of Clymer Central School. As a farmer’s wife, she took an active role in all aspects of their dairy operation. She was a longtime member of Edwards Chapel UMC, the Findley Lake Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary and the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter 96. Bernice loved to bowl and did so most of her life. She enjoyed canning, gardening, music and singing. Above all she was a kind and loving person who always had a smile on her face.
Bernice is survived by her children: Christine Frankson of Busti, N.Y., Tom Park of Clymer, N.Y., Jeff (Marcy) Park of Clymer, N.Y., David Lewis of Columbus, Pa., Annie (Ken) Berkhous of Columbus, Pa., Margaret (Dale) Higley of Columbus, Pa., and Mary (Ron) Leslie of Corry, Pa; a daughter -in-law, Diana Lewis of Florida; grandchildren: Michael Crump, Theresa Crandall, Jonathan and Christopher Park, Stephen and Michael Lewis, Tracy Tasker, Scott and Charles Berkhous, Brandon, Jessica and Darren Higley, Kerrie and Phillip Leslie; 30 greatgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters-in-law: Audrey Allen and Sandy Allen.
Besides her parents, Frank and Frances Bayle, Bernice is preceded in death by her infant, brother, Arthur Bayle; her first husband, Louie Park and her second husband, Norman Lewis; son, Richard Lewis; son-in-law, Stephen Frankson; and daughter-in-law, Rosalie Park.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday 5-8 p.m., and Thursday 10-11 a.m., at Edwards Chapel UMC, 9227 Cherry Hill Road, Clymer, N.Y., where a funeral service will follow, Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bernice’s memory to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750 or Edwards Chapel UMC, or the Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
