Joan “JoAnn” Westpfahl

JoAnn was born on October 14, 1942, in Sherman, NY to the late Ralph and Marie Griswold. She was the eldest daughter of 11 siblings.

JoAnn was a 1960 graduate of Sherman Central School where she earned class salutatorian honors. She worked for many years as a tax preparer with Enrolled Agent status for H & R Block and Financial Services. JoAnn continued to prepare taxes for family and select individuals right up until her death. She helped many people throughout her career, but what she will be remembered most for is being a devoted wife, loving moth-er, and matriarch to siblings.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Richard, of 54 years whom she married on January 13, 1967. Two sons: Donald Westpfahl of Pulaski, VA and Richard (Sandy) Westpfahl of Mayville, NY. Two daughters: Roxanne (Jerry) Loveless of Stockton, NY and Bonnie (Jerry) Johnson of Mayville, NY. Two sisters: Beverly Davis of Sherman, NY and Jessie May Griswold of Sherman, NY. In addition there are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At the request of JoAnn, no viewing or services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Mayville Fire Dept Rescue Squad or Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care.
