Gerald F. “Jerry” Johnson Jr.

Gerald F. “Jerry” John-son Jr., 75, of 20 High St., died Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, in UPMC Chautauqua.

He was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Jamestown, a son of the late Gerald and June Gloss Johnson Sr.

He was a graduate of Frontier Central School and later Jamestown Community College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1965-67.

He had been employed by Westburgh Electric as a salesman.

Jerrry was active in many veteran organizations over the years. He was a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, a member and charter commander of Thomas G. Stone Post 1996 AMVETS and served as the AMVETS New York State commander in 2006-07. In addition, he was instrumental in starting the musical group The Stage Door Canteen which traveled and entertained people as far away as New York City and Philadelphia.

Surviving is his wife Mary Ann Frankson Johnson, whom he married Sept. 11, 1993; a daughter, Autumn Thompson of Falconer; stepchildren: Andrea Blew of Falconer, and Howard (Wendy) Linamen of Ashville; grandchildren: Steven and Deven Lamb, Jacob (Mary) Linamen, Jesse Linamen and Kendra Bowman; two sisters: Pat Mumm of Florida and Trudy McFarin of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Johnson; and two nieces: Melody and Hope Mumm.

Per Jerry’s wishes, he was donated to the University at Buffalo Medical School.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.

Masks are required while in the funeral home, regardless of immunization status.
