Ernestine Nina (Crandall) Slade

She was born May 27, 1929, in Angelica, N.Y., the daughter of the late Claude and Grace (De-Long) Crandall.

She attended schools in Angelica, N.Y. Prior to retirement, she had worked at the Cattaraugus County ECHO Senior Nutrition Program in Randolph. In earlier years, she had worked for Inkley Pharmacy, Lucy’s Restaurant and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, all of Randolph.

Family was very important to Ernestine, she loved family gatherings, especially Christmas, and the great memorys at her son Ted’s camp.

She is survived by three sons: Terry (Karen) Slade and Timothy (Michelle) Slade, all of Randolph, and Jeffrey Slade of Texas; a daughter-inlaw, Jeanne L. (Baker) Slade of Steamburg; and a step-daughter, Brenda Slade of Olean.

She is additionally survived by 11 grandchildren: Todd (Maria) Slade, Aaron (Vanesa) Slade, Brian Slade, Chad (Briget) Slade, Dennis (Rosemary) Peter-son, David (Rosemary) Peterson, Mark Slade, Scott Slade, Tammy (Robert) Finch, Lisa (Chuck) Slade and Clarissa Slade, 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Laverne Slade, second husband, Herman Slade and third husband, SSGT Alan B. Slade; a daughter, Nancy Peterson in 1983; grand-daughters: Tracy Slade in 1972 and Karen Slade in 1975; a son, Teddy Slade Sept. 15, 2021; and brothers: DeForest (2005) and Malcom Crandall (1999).

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, in the Van-Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, services will follow at 4 p.m., with Rene Adams, retired pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Steamburg Cemetery.
