Clair Phillip Bajdo Sr.

MAYVILLE — Clair Phillip Bajdo Sr., 77, of Mayville, passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at his home, with family at his side.

He was born Jan. 12, 1944, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Henry Carl and Edna Marie Dascomb Bajdo.

Clair has worked for Raynor Chrysler Plymouth, Beckman Everts Ford Mer-cury and various other shops as an autobody man, he and his wife operated Clair’s Country Lanes bowling alley in West Port-land for three years and established a well known business, was employed by Chautauqua County Resource Center as a transport driver, he then went on to driving semi and re-tired from Aim National Lease in 2008.

He was a life member of the Westfield Moose Lodge 118, attended the West Portland Baptist Church in Portland, N.Y., attended the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring, Fla., and was a previous member of the Dewittville Fire Department.

For 10 years, Clair and his wife, Paulette, spent six months of the year in Re-flections on Silver Lake in Avon Park, Fla. He enjoyed NASCAR, going to local racetracks to watch his sons race, hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominos, water volleyball, watching western movies, photography, video recording family events, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Clair is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Kay Brown Bajdo, whom he married Aug. 23, 1964, in Westfield, N.Y.; two sons: Clair Phillip “Phil” (Chris-tine) Bajdo Jr. of Mayville, and Steven (Aimee) Bajdo of Dewittville; one daughter, Jennifer (Dean) Howard of Mayville; 10 grandchildren; Jason (Amanda), Kimberly, Jeffrey, Steven A., Kristopher, Heather, Jasmine, Katelyn (Brad), Bryanna and Sara, six great-grandchildren: two sisters: Susan Sortore of Westfield, and Patricia (Richard) Lundquist of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet Parrot, Myah and cat, Sam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Kell.

The funeral will be held at 11a.m., on Monday, Oct.18, 2021, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 South Erie St). The Rev. Charlie Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, Oct. 17, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
