Audrey G. Jachym

On October 18, 2021 Audrey G. Jachym died peacefully in her sleep at La Costa Glen, Carlsbad, Calif., and joined her loving husband of 60 years, John Jachym, who passed away in 2005. Growing up in South Dayton, N.Y., with small town values, she was proud of her upbringing that fostered self- sufficiency and respect for others.

Although her formative years were dominated by the Great Depression, she considered herself the luckiest girl in the world to have met and joined John in their marvelous journey across our nation. This would include our country’s every day citizens, its business and political leaders and entertainers. She was always astonished and in disbelief that a small town girl could have been so fortunate to have experienced such an amazing life.

In their early years of marriage, Audrey and John were avid bowlers. And in their 40s they turned their attention to golf. Audrey served on the board of directors for the Women’s Western Golf Association for 15 years. The association provided college scholarships for young women golfers.

Audrey was so proud of her children,: James (wife, Eva), Jacqueline (husband, Barry) and Janet (husband, Robert). She was pleased they were able to find happiness and fulfillment in their endeavors and families. She is survived by five grandchildren: Bradley, Aimee, Jason, Jeremy and Joshua and four great grandchildren: Pia, Solenne, Emden and Willa Lou. Sadly, her younger brother, Rolland, passed away earlier this year.

Audrey remained independent and intellectually engaged up and until the time of her death. She will be laid to rest along side her husband, John J Jachym, at Arlington National Cemetery.
