Maynard M. Reynolds

Maynard M. Reynolds
Maynard M. Reynolds, 86, of Conewango Valley, N.Y., passed away peace-fully on Sept. 20, 2021, at his cabin on Bentley Hill surrounded by his children, after a short battle with CLL (Leukemia).
Maynard, aka Goober, was born at home on the family farm in Conewango Valley, N.Y., on November 19, 1934, to Izola Pauline Snyder Reynolds Anderson and Leland Carlyle Rey-nolds. He was a 1952 gra-duate of Pine Valley Cen-tral School. Maynard was a self-employed trucker and a very passionate pig farmer for most of his life.
Maynard is survived by his four children: Gerry (Lisa) Reynolds of San Jose, Calif., Lisa (Ed) Kam-inski of Warren, Pa., Lon-nie (Tamara) Reynolds of Cherry Creek, N.Y., and Christine (George, Jr.) Ma-son of Pierson, Fla. May-nard is also survived by eight grandchildren: Michelle (Dan Preston) Reynolds of San Jose, Cal-if., Danielle Vanord, Columbia, S.C., Jonathan Kaminski, Warren Pa., Tif-fany (Eric) Hills, West, Texas, Ashley (Dale) Perry, Cherry Creek, N.Y., Jamie (Greg) Welch, Albany, N.Y., Britni (DeAngelo) Brundidge, Hanahan, S.C. and Brett Mason, North Lake Tahoe, Calif., as well as 20 great-grandchildren.
Maynard is survived by two siblings, a sister Au-drey Reynolds, Gowanda, N.Y., and a brother, Roger (Noretta) Reynolds of Conewango Valley, N.Y., and a sister-in-law, Lucille Reynolds from Conewango Valley, N.Y., as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and stepfather Emmons Anderson, Maynard was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Harold L. Reynolds of Conewango Valley, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 2020.
Maynard was full of humor and wisdom. He had many one-liners and was quick to tell a joke or a sto-ry if the mood struck him. He enjoyed growing a gar-den and fiddling with his fruit trees. For many years he grew some of the best potatoes ever. He loved na-ture and spent most of his life outdoors working and/or piddling around his 10 acres. He had an uncan-ny ability to tell you what time of day it was just by looking at the sun. When the sun went down you could always find him sit-ting in his swing on the ca-bin porch overlooking his pond. Fittingly that is where he spent his last morning.
Maynard was a lifetime member of Ellington Rod & Gun Club and an associ-ate member of the Cherry Creek and Randolph VFWs. He could often be seen at these clubs playing tickets and sharing both his “winnings and losses” with his many friends sitting next to him. Maynard loved to dance and would tear up the dance floor with anyone brave enough to get out there and dance with him.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, and 11 a.m. to noon Mon-day, Sept. 27, at the Van-Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Ran-dolph, N.Y., with the fun-eral service immediately following. Due to CO-VID-19 masks will be available and at your dis-cretion. Burial will be in the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
The children of Maynard Reynolds wish to extend their sincere thanks to the Sinclairville 76ers Meals on Wheels Program for the 14 years they provided him with a hot meal. He always looked forward to those hot meals sitting on his dining room table.
