Kenneth R. Olson

A lifelong area resident he was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Stockton, N.Y., the son of the late Augustus and Ellen Henderson Olson.

Ken was a 1941 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II from 1944-46. He was employed by Sans Corporation retiring in 1989. He also owned and operated a gravel and top soil business for 35 years. Ken was known for having the cleanest dirt in town.

He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed horseshoes, card games, antique tractors, attending the Warren County Fair, horse pulls and singing.

Surviving are five children: Mary (Ken) Moore of Youngsville, Laurie (Anthony) Pollino of Jamestown, Daniel Olson (Mary Ann Platz) of Bemus Point, Amy (Ted) Jose of Jamestown and Todd Olson of Bemus Point; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and his companion of 20 years, Carol Kesby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Autumn Wensley Olson who died in 1978; and a daughter, Sandra (Tyrrell) Pickard who died in 1994. Ken was the last surviving member of three brothers: Raymond, Donald and William Olson; and two sisters: Margurite Hultberg and Virginia Brace.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
