Shirlee Jean Phillips

Shirlee was born on Dec. 14, 1950, in Jamestown, N.Y., and met Mike at Cowdricks Drug Store, Warren, Pa., where she worked and their love story started to grow. Shirlee and Mike started to grow their family as well as a small business, Northwest Pools and Spas. Shirlee and Mike grew their business from their home and served the community of Warren County for over 25 years. Shirlee, however, always preferred the supportive role as the swim coach’s wife, a reliable and trusted friend, who provided a patient, listening ear, a welcoming home, and was above all else – a mother.

Shirlee is lovingly remembered by her girls: Cori (Phillips) Dunagan, Frewsburg, N.Y., Kristy Phillips and her fiance, Shawn Young, Warren, Kimberly (Phillips) Messenger and Jason, Lake Wales, Fla.

Shirlee’s greatest title in this world is that of grandma to seven grandchildren: McKenna Darts (William Huling) Tanner Phillips, Morgan Darts, Emily Darts (Desirae McMillen) and Spencer Dunagan, all of Warren, Madelyn Messenger, Jayce Messenger of Lake Wales Fla. , and the recent addition of great-granddaughter, Isabella Rayn Huling. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirlee is survived by her brother, David (Sally) Arthur, North Carolina; sister, Patricia (Jack, deceased) Shirley, Florida, as well as recently reconnected half-siblings that brought her great love and compassion., Ken (Joan) Larsen, Dennis Larsen, Debra (Tom, deceased) Kennedy, Karen (Phillip) Allen, Cindy (Ron) Widrig and Tom (Debra) Larsen.

In accordance with Shirlee’s final wishes, a private ceremony will be arranged at the convenience of the family.
