Darryl L. Snyder, 61, of Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Westfield, N.Y., passed away peacefully Monday, July 26, 2021, in Lakeland Regional Health Center, Florida following a sudden illness.
Darryl was born May 18, 1960, in Westfield, N.Y., son of the late Victor and Eunice (Burgess) Snyder.
He attended Westfield Academy and Central School and graduated with the class of 1979. Following high school, Darryl went on and furthered his education by attending two years of Commercial College for GMC.
Darryl was a gifted bowler, he began working at the former 700 Lanes in Barcelona, N.Y., where he began perfecting his famous left-hook. Other places of employment where Darryl made memories and friends were Better Baked Foods, Belknap Business Forms, owned and operated 10 Pin Pizza and Subs in Ripley, N.Y., LaPorte Chevrolet, Schults Auto, Jim Ball Auto, and many other auto dealers in the Chautauqua and Erie County areas. After relocating to Florida, Darryl went on to own and operate Hoss’s Pizza, and also worked at Sysco Foods, Amazon, and finally worked as a groundskeeper and maintenance at Sandpiper golf course.
To fulfill his spare time on weekends during the summer months, Darryl drove car D-7 at Stateline Speedway and Eriez Speedways during his younger years.
His love for bowling was his true calling, he had 37 sanctioned 300 games, including a doubles game where both his partner, Pat Parisi and Darryl shot 300 in the same game which was nationally recognized. Darryl also had several 800 series and countless 700 series on his bowling resume. He was on numerous teams throughout Chautauqua County and competed on televisions ‘Beat the Champ’.
He had a love for sports and enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing a round of golf whenever he could. He was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and even after moving to Florida stuck with his team. He enjoyed meeting with friends for a drink and was always the biggest personality in room. Anyone who knew Darryl would tell you that he could tell a story like no other.
Darryl is survived by his loving companion, Jolene and her children: Kaiden and Desteny of Auburndale, Fla.; his son Greg (Hilary) Snyder of Dunkirk, N.Y.; and sister, Margaret (Robert) Jagoda of Brocton, N.Y. He is further survived by five cherished grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Snyder; and sister Donna Mae Auge.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, from 2-4 and 6- 9 p.m., at the MORSE Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., where funeral services will be held there on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Clara Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in Portland Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, N.Y.
