Peter M. Volpe

Peter M. Volpe, 72, of 1723 Parkmeadow Drive, died in his home Monday, July 26, 2021, the result of pancreatic cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange.

He was born September 26, 1948, in Jamestown, a son of Mary Conti Volpe and the late Angelo Volpe.

He was a 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School.

A Vietnam War veteran of the US Army, 9th Infantry Division, he served from 1968-71.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving besides his mother of Jamestown is his wife, Marlene Pillsbury Volpe; twin sons Michael and Steven Volpe, both of Buffalo; and four brothers: Anthony (Jolanta) Volpe of Florida, Charles Volpe, Thomas (Lisa) Volpe, and Angelo (Vicky) Volpe all of Jamestown. He is also survived by nieces Gina Volpe of Jamestown, and Stephanie Smith (Lee) of Cambridge, England and grandniece Sela Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father and his infant sister, Esther.

He enjoyed baking Italian bread and cookies and making homemade ravioli and sauce for family holidays. He loved spending time at his cottage on Chautauqua Lake, showing his 1966 Buick and his 1941 Chevy at area car shows, buying and selling antiques, and collecting vintage items pertaining to the history of Jamestown, N.Y.

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
