Mary Kuzminski Songer

With great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Kuzminski Songer, 96, on Tuesday July 27, 2021. Mary was born in 1924 to Micheal and Mary (Karas) Kuzminski of York Hill in Youngsville, Pa.

After graduating from high school, Mary completed Beautician Training in Erie, Pa., and worked in Warren, Pa., until the arrival of her firstborn. The rest of her life was dedicated to family and her faith; she was deeply loved by many. As a beloved wife and mother, she developed many skills, including finishing and reupholstering furniture.

She was a member of Women Aglow and the Home Bureau of Great Valley, N.Y. She also served as a den mother and taught Sunday School.

Mary raised five children and one exchange student daughter: Robert M. Songer of Pinckney, MI, Katherine A. (Bill) Hager of Ishpeming, MI, Valerie K. (David) Thor of Busti, N.Y., Mark A. (Cindy) Songer of Mars, Pa., Wesley S. (Debbie) Songer of Elkton, VA. Her exchange student daughter is Nancy (Donnie) Eastman of New Port Richie, Fla.

Her other surviving family includes 17 grandchildren; 26 1/2 great-grandchildren; a sister Anne Foreman of Corry, Pa., and a brother Edward Kuzminski of Lander, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert S. Songer and grandson, Ben Graessle. Mary was one of nine children. Those that preceded her in death are Helen Battko, Genevieve Fehlman, John Kuzminski, Micheal Kuzminski, Mary Kuzminski (died in early childhood), and Frank Kuzminski.

Lind Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.Y., is handling all arrangements. A graveside service of cele-bration and dedication will be held under a tent at 11 a.m. Saturday July 31, 2021, in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Chapel.
