Loraine D. Jett

Loraine D. Jett, 89, of Sebastian, Fla., formerly of Frewsburg, went peacefully to her heavenly home on June 29, 2021.

She was born March 5, 1932, in Bear Lake, Pa., to Martin and Margaret Carlson.

After graduation from high school Loraine enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where she met Floyd Jett who became her husband on Aug. 1, 1955. Floyd made a career out of the U.S. Air Force and together they raised three children, traveling to different military bases all over the United States. Upon his retirement from service, they settled in Frewsburg in 1972.

Loraine worked in the PX while on base. In Frewsburg, she worked for M&T Bank as a teller and eventually obtained her realtor license. Loraine belonged to bowling leagues for many years. She was also an avid golfer, a member at South Hills. Her stats and photograph would often be seen in the sports section of The Post Journal. She was chair person for the Boys and Girls Club Golf Tournament for several years. After retirement, Loraine and Floyd wintered in Florida a few years, finally moving per-manently in 1999 and eventually settling in Sebastian.

Loraine is survived by her husband, Floyd of Sebastian; daughters: Linda Jett-Pappas (Larry) of Vero Beach, Fla., and Donna Jett of Sebastian; son, David Jett (Candy) of Maple Springs, N.Y.; grandchildren: Michael Jett, Adam Story, Eric Jett (Stephanie) and Rebecca Powers (Josh); great-grandchildren: Alex Story and Wesley Jett. She is also survived by sisters: Connie Sherman and Cathy Bucklin (Bruce); brothers: Richard Carlson and Roger Carlson (Yvonne); and sister-in-law, Sharon Carlson. Additionally, sister-in-law, Mildred Jett and several other family members survive in the Webster Springs area of West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Carlson; and sister-in-law, Maribelle Carlson.

Loraine cherished spending time with family and friends and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, 3012 Route 430, corner of Dutch Hollow Road and Route 430 in Greenhurst. Pastor Bob Benson will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Internment will be at 2 p.m. at the cemetery in Busti.

Memorials in Loraine’s memory may be made to Christ Church.
