John M. Holthouse

He was born November 11, 1948, in Corry, Pa., the son of the late Marvin J. and Helen Hemster Holthouse.

John was raised and educated in Clymer and graduated from Clymer Central School in 1966. He then enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand. John was Honorably Discharged in 1970, and returned to Clymer. He then worked for the family business “Clymer Bag Company” until 1997 when he started Custom Shipping Products, Inc. located in Bear Lake and currently located in Clymer. John was still working there until his passing.

John was a member of the VFW Post No. 264 and American Legion Post No. 365 in Corry, Pa., Elks Club in Bradenton, Fla., and Clymer Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Clymer Town Board for 24 years.

John enjoyed fretwork, golfing, boating, karaoke and picking on his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Lorraine and Gordon Holthouse.

John is survived by his wife, Marlene K. Croscutt Holthouse whom he married on February 6, 1971 in Clymer, N.Y.; two daughters, Shelly Schenck and her husband Mike and Laurie Barringer and her husband Todd all of Clymer, N.Y.; one sister, Diane Heslink of Clymer, N.Y., and one brother Tim Holthouse and his wife Diane also of Clymer.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Claire Olivia Schenck, Colin Parker Schenck and Hunter John Paul “JP” Barringer and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 11 a.m., Pastor David Wickins and Pastor Thom Daubenspeck will officiate.

Burial will be at the Holland Cemetery, Clymer, N.Y.
