Kenneth V. Shearer Sr.

MAYVILLE — Kenneth V. Shearer Sr., 78, of Mayville, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute, in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Conewango, N.Y., the son of the late Lester and Buna Brown Shearer and grew up in Falconer N.Y.

He was a truck driver and started driving for Rapid Delivery in Jamestown N.Y., and then drove for 35 years for Consolidated Freightways, also in Jamestown. He belonged to the Teamsters Union and retired in 1997.

He drove a late model race car, 77 at Stateline and Eriez Speedway for Oakes Gas Company of Kane, Pa., for many years. Ken was also an avid motorcycle rider and had belonged to the Country Riders Motorcycle Club of Conewango.

He was the guy that could fix anything and loved racing, cars and being with his family. He was an active member of the Chautauqua Lake Region Antique Car Club. He was always the cheerleader for his family and friends and was never the type of guy to complain about anything. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Ken will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by wife, Concetta Marie Anzalone Shearer, whom he married June 27, 1964; children: Ken Shearer Jr. (Jennifer) of Mayville, N.Y., Randy Shearer (Karin) of Lexington, S.C., and Renee Thayer (Scott) of Ashville, N.Y.’ grandchildren: Randy, Kenny, Tyler (Jessica), Joey, Kourtney, Sophia, Camryn, Talan and Olivia; two sisters: Janice (the late Gordon) Ellis of Lakewood N.Y., and Donna (Tom) Derby of Saucier, Miss.; along with many nephews and nieces.

Burial will be private in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 South Erie St).
