David J. Quist

David J. Quist of Hernando, Fla., formerly of Lakewood and Ashville, N.Y., played his last hand on June 7, 2021.

He was born in James-town to Irene Jensen Quist and Reynold L. Quist.

When he was 12 he had a dream of building a home on the property he was raised on. Thirty-four years later after finding those three pine trees that were significantly taller he placed his new home. Wanting to enjoy the beauty that surrounded them, Joyce and David took to landscaping their oasis. He liked to hunt and fish in his younger days. But as the years went by he just en-joyed watching the wildlife that was plentiful on the homestead.

He severed in the U.S. Air Force from 1955- 1959. He throughly en-joyed his days in Japan and was always thankful to the Air Force for getting him out of town.

After returning to Ashville he decided to go west, then north, North to Alaska where he resided for many years. He was a man who loved looking for different jobs in different fields, en-joying everyone of them. Always wanted them listed on his headstone but far to many, so more appropriately jack of all trades master of none.

He is survived by his best friend, his wife of 36 years Joyce M. Warren & Patches his beloved cat. His son Michael Quist (Linda) & his daughter Nena Quist. His nieces and nephews, Gina, Luanne, ( he would always say “good kid” when you mentioned her name) Teresa, Patrick, Lorene and Erik. Also many family members that are too numerous to name.

He had a few parting words: Sally, your it, “THE OLDEST.” To his good friend, “HI, RICK.”

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Reynold L Quist, his sister Laurene Quist and nephew Peter Quist.

Everyone knows you are already sitting at a poker table somewhere!!

David, from your loving wife, with all my heart, SEE YA!!!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.

No visitation will be ob-served, a memoriam for family members will be held at a later date.
