Sally G. Merwin

Sally G. Merwin, 83, of Westfield, N.Y., passed away on Friday morning, April 23, 2021. at her home with her family at her side.

She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Dec. 15, 1937, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Sue (Harkness) Grosser.

Sally was a graduate of Randolph Central High School, class of 1955. She went onto SUNY Fredonia earning a bachelors degree and masters degree in music education. Sally was employed by the Westfield Academy and Central School in Westfield as an elementary music teacher. She also was the co-owner of the Credit Bureau of Dunkirk & Locator Associates. She founded and directed the Westfield Community Chorus, for more than 40 years. Sally and her husband, Ronald with their daughter, Michele sang with the Chautauqua Choir at the Chautauqua Institute, Sally and Ron for more than 50 years. She also belonged to the Barberettes, a barbershop quartet.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele A. (Marty Lathrop) Merwin of Dunkirk; a son, John (Lisa Saxton) Merwin; a granddaughter, Olivia (Steven McCool) Merwin; a great-grandson, Kaiden J. McCool.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Merwin; and a brother, Robert Grosser.

Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St Westfield on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, from 5-7 p.m., where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m.
