Mary Violet Whitmore

CLARENCE CENTER, N.Y. — Mary Violet Whitmore, 96, formerly of Whitmore Road, Randolph, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, in the home of her daughter, Sandra in Clarence Center, N.Y., while under the care of Hospice.

She was born Nov. 27, 1924, in the town of Carroll, N.Y., the daughter of the late Erie and Clara Cox Comstock. She attended a one room school house in Conewango, N.Y.

Mary was a homemaker, and worked for several years as a self-employed wall paper contractor, and worked alongside her husband Roy on their dairy farm on Whitmore road in the town of Coldspring (Randolph).

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially Holly Hocks, and she always found a way to see the beauty in everything and everyone.

She is survived by her daughtersL Genevieve (Frank) Fuller of Randolph and Sandra (Robert) Baker of Clarence Center, N,Y,; five grandchildren; and 12 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Whitmore, whom she married on June 12, 1942, and who preceded her on May 3, 1988; a grandson, Dusty Baker; as well as three sisters and three brothers; abd two step-daughters: Edith Hickok and Janet Dennis.

As per her wishes there will be no funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 1-4 p.m., Wednesday (May 12, 2021) from the Van-Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St. Randolph, N.Y..

Burial will be in the Bunker Hill Cemetery, Steamburg, N.Y.
