MAYVILLE — Lucille Irma Guerr Burdick 91, of Mayville, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa.

She was born June 4, 1929, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harry W. and Catherine M. Mcloud-Guerr.

Lucille resided in Mayville her entire married life, she spent time in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Lake Helen, Fla. and Silver Hills, Ala.

She was a scholarship student at the International Order of the Kings Daughters Benedict House at the Chautauqua Institution in 1947, where she met the love of her life, Guy E. Burdick, who had just returned from World War II. They married Nov. 20, 1948, in Buffalo, NY.

Staying active in the Kings Daughters and Sons of Western New York, she was camp director of Camp Gates at Allegany State Park Camp II for 25 years. She and Guy sent many girls of Western New York to camp Gates over the years.

As a member of the Rebekah’s and Odd Fellows of New York and Florida, she rose through the ranks to become the Grand Matriarch and received the Grand Decoration for both states. She had also been a Boy Scouts den mother, a Girl Scout leader, president of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant of Florida, a member of the Chautauqua Fire Department Auxiliary, Veterans Foreign Wars American Legion and various other charitable organizations.

Lucille enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading, crafts, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her three children: Guy (Adriane) Burdick Jr. of Mayville, N.Y., Catherine Behrent of Denver, Colo., and Mary Reynolds of Mayville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Burdick Sr.; a son-in-law; Gaylen R. Behrent; and two brothers: Waren K. Guerr of Haines City, Fla., and Earle F. Guerr of Buffalo, N.Y.

A private graveside service will be held in the Chautauqua Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
