Richard L. “Rich” Farr

Richard L. “Rich” Farr, 50, of Fluvanna Avenue, Jamestown, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on December 10, 1970 in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Lloyd L. and Linda Cummings Farr.

Richard graduated from Jamestown High School in 1990. Following high school he earned his associate’s degree from Jamestown Community College. He went on to Fredonia to earn his bachelor’s degree in teaching. He taught fifth grade for a short period of time at Washington Middle School.

Richard was an avid artist, he loved music and writing poetry. He enjoyed volunteering in the community. He volunteered at St. Susan Center and he was the lead volunteer at the food pantry at Joy Fellowship FMC. Richard was an active member of Joy Fellowship FMC. Richard was always the first one there to lend a helping hand. He was a kind and compassionate person and he committed his life to serve the Lord. He’s still helping others after his passing by donating to CORE. By his life ending he’s giving life to others through his gift of tissue and organ donation. Richard will be missed and remembered for being such a warm loving person.

Richard is survived by his two sisters: Lisa (Wayne) Jones of Maryland and Mindy (Albert) Mazurek of South Carolina; his brother: Jonathon (Cindy) Scott of South Carolina; two nieces: Melinda (Will) Loveless and Michelle (Brandon) Moriarty all of Jamestown, N.Y.; his nephew: Lawrence “Trey” Bennett III of Maryland; his step mother: Deborah Farr (companion Alan Taylor) of Randolph, N.Y.; his uncle: Ronald (Pat) Cummings of Celoron, N.Y.; his cousins: Melissa (Chris) Vergith of Erie, PA and Jonathan (Heather) Cummings of Washington State; seven great nieces and nephews: Sebryna, Aleah, Zach, Brayden, Oliviyah, Landon and David.

Memorial contributions may be made to Joy Fellowship, 515 E. 7th Street, Jamestown, N.Y.

Family and friends may call at Joy Fellowship FMC, 515 E. 7th Street, Jamestown, N.Y., on Friday from noon until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held there at 2 p.m. Rev. Dodi McIntyre, pastor of Joy Fellowship FMC will officiate.
