Kenneth Floyd “Ken” Abbey

Kenneth Floyd “Ken” Abbey, age 70 of Mulberry, Florida, formerly of Churchville, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021, after a brief illness at Lakeland Regional Hospital. Ken was born in Gowanda, N.Y., and grew up in Cherry Creek, N.Y., graduating from Pine Valley Central School. Upon graduation he attended Jamestown Community College and then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Brockport State University.

Ken spent the majority of his working life working for Bausch and Lomb. This was a job that took him all over the world and he loved to share stories about his travels. Upon leaving Bausch and Lomb, Ken started his own successful landscaping/construction business which kept him busy until his retirement. Ken was always looking for projects to do, or something to fix, and he could fix almost anything. This led him to eventually build his own house and he was very proud of this accomplishment. He was an avid Yankee fan who enjoyed collecting Yankees memorabilia and watching baseball. Ken loved animals, especially his 3 dachshunds Scooter, Babe, and Mickey whom he spoiled immensely.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Abbey Jr., and his mother, Pauline Ryder. He is survived by his fiancee, Sherry Ford and her three children and nine grandchildren, sister Kathy Mierzwa (Tom) of South Dayton, NY, brothers Kreg Abbey of Virginia Beach, Va., and Keith Abbey (Mary Jane) of St. Augustine, Fla., as well as many nephews and nieces.

As per Ken’s wishes he is to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced this summer.
