Kathleen L. Anderson

Kathleen L. Anderson, 70, of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away peacefully at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, in her home following a lengthy illness.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Jan. 6, 1951, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late James and Lucia Holcomb Nagle.

Kathy was a 1969 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Brandywine College in Wilmington, Del.

Before her retirement, she was a teacher’s aide for the Southwestern Central School System for more than 20 years. She gave her heart to students, many of whom remained in contact with her over the years. The relationships she forged during her tenure there were among the most meaningful of her life.

She will be remembered as a selfless, and loving wife, mother, and grand-mother who devoted her life to caring for others. The memories of every holiday and special occasion she organized will last a lifetime. Being an avid reader, she was a constant visitor at the Lakewood Library reading hundreds of books, and as a result she developed an extensive interest and knowledge of history. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy, spending time on the water, and capturing the brilliant sunsets over Chautauqua Lake.

Surviving is her husband and best friend of 49 years, Dudley H. Anderson, whom she married April 8, 1972; three children: Laura (Nathan Arnone) Anderson and Kurtis (Jeanne) Anderson both of Jamestown, N.Y., and Jared Anderson of Lakewood, N.Y.; five grandchildren; Lucas Arnone, Mariel Arnone, Rayshawn Anderson, McKenzie Anderson and Tyson Anderson; a sister, Karen Nagle of Grand Rapids, Mich., and her four children; her uncle, Peter Nagle of Jamestown; as well as her cousins with whom she grew up like siblings.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood, NY 14750, or to a library of your choice.
