Carl R. Myers Jr.

Carl R. Myers Jr.., 60, of Sherman, N.Y., passed away at 2:20 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2021, in UPMC Chautauqua, following a brief illness.

A lifelong area resident, he was born July 31, 1960 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of Carl R. and Carol Sue Champlin Myers, Sr.

Carl was a 1979 graduate of Jamestown High School.

He was currently employed as a custodian for the Jamestown Public School System and had earlier worked for the former H&H Metal Specialty for 20 years.

He will be remembered as one who loved playing softball, bowling, playing in the pool league, and throwing horseshoes with his father. He was also known as the family “master corn hole player”. His kids were most important to him and he loved attending their sporting events and other activities.

Surviving are his parents, Carl R. and Carol Myers, Sr., of Apache Junction, Ariz.; his wife, Sharyn VanEvery Myers, whom he married March 27, 1993; three children: Ryan Myers of Sherman., N.Y., Kathryn “Kate” Myers of Kernersville, N.C., and Margaret “Maggie” Myers of Sherman, N.Y.; two sisters: Debbie (Rodnee) Corente of Arizona, and Cheryl (Tim) Jones of Clayton, N.C.; several brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m .Friday in the Sherman Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Hanson, pastor of the Jamestown Church of the Nazarene will officiate.

Friends will be received on a walk-through basis from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where social distancing will be observed and masks must be worn while inside the funeral home.
