Robert Anthony Johnson
On Jan. 25, 2021, Robert Anthony Johnson, 74 of Bemus Point, N.Y., entered the Kingdom of Heaven after battling cancer for a short time. Bob was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1946.
He attended St Peter’s Elementary School, graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 1965, and graduated from SUNY Morrisville as an Environmental Health Technician in 1972. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965-1969, who sailed on the USCG Cutter Humboldt from Groton Connecticut.
He was employed as a wastewater treatment plant operator for the City of Jamestown BPU from 1972-2008. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing for Muskies in Chautauqua Lake and steelhead in Lake Erie tributaries. In his free time, he enjoyed lure making and fly tying. He volunteered at Project Healing Waters tying flies with the wounded veterans at the Erie, Pa., VA Medical Center.
He was a member of Muskies Inc. winning several awards. He often quipped he was a fishing “legend in his own mind.”
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Krista, and his grandchildren John and Emma. Also, his sisters Mary MacPhee and Deborah Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Johnson of Prince Edward Island Canada and his brother James Johnson of Fredonia, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Project Healing Waters in Erie Pa. or to Our Lady of Lourdes in Bemus Point, N.Y.
