Kipling G. Olson
MAYVILLE — Kipling “Kip” G. Olson, 69 of Mayville, passed away at his home with family at his side on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 30, 1951 in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Gilbert L. and Lorna Locker Olson.
Kip was a 1969 graduate of Mayville Central School and a 1974 graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University where he earned a BS in Construction Management. He went on to work as a carpenter with the family business, G.L. Olson, where he retired from.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, family vacations, music, New York Yankees baseball, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Kip is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years; Constance “Connie” Rubner Olson, whom he married Nov. 17, 1973, one daughter; Amy (Sean) Martin of Erie, P.A., one son; Stephen (Beth) Olson of Mayville, N.Y., six grandchildren; Lauren, Andrew, and Noah Martin and Tate, Nolan, and Finley Olson, one brother; Kim (Vicki) Olson, one sister; Korrie Willbank, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog; Pai.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Karry Olson, and one sister; Kallie Olson.
A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
